Robbery Suspect Arrested District 3

Recently, District 3 Officers and Investigators arrested Rollin Anthony Owen Jr. and charged him seven counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Second Degree Kidnapping, Assault by Pointing a Gun and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. This also made the local news. In most of these cases the suspect would panhandle money from unsuspecting victims either on the street or at their residence then brandish a firearm and make them drive to a different location (usually an ATM and get money).

Crime Prevention TIP: Please DO NOT open your door for people soliciting if they do not have proper identification. Owens is in jail under a $1,020,000.00 bond.

Also recently, we have seen a spike in motor vehicle break-ins in the 700 block of Carroll Street and the 1300 block of Shepherd Street. Thanks to some very vigilant neighbors we now have a suspect but the problem is we can’t link him to the break-ins because no one has called the police to report stolen items. If you experienced a recent vehicle break-in please call me or email me and let me know what was stolen and hopefully we can lock this guy up and bring him to justice.

That’s all for now.

Until next time, stay safe.

DPD District 3 Crime Investigations Newsletter

Greetings;

There has been a spike in motor vehicle break-ins throughout the district. However, recently they seem to be mostly in the 700 Block of Carroll Street. The suspect(s) look for unlocked cars with valuables in plain sight. We also believe that these same suspect(s) may be responsible for burglaries in that area were the residents were home. This investigation is ongoing as well.

Please continue to be vigilant in your communities. We have received some great tips and other information that has helped us to solve cases and bring perpetrators to justice.

Any and all information is appreciated and lets continue to work together to abate crime in the district.

Call or email me if you need me.

Until next time, stay safe.

Break-in: 3200 Block

Neighbors in the  3200 block were broken into yesterday. An email was sent and reported:
“I want to let you know that our house was robbed yesterday between 10:30am-5:30pm. We are not certain how they got in as both of the doors were locked and it seems that neither lock was forced. We just wanted to give you a heads up. I just want to make sure everyone knows and is aware. Additionally if anyone saw anything that could help police that would be fantastic. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like more info.”

There was another break reported last week on  Winton  which is a street adjacent  to Oxford.  Please keep your eyes extra vigilant.

Hope Valley Break-ins That May Impact Us

Good afternoon everyone-

There were 2 break- ins in the Hope Valley neighborhood this afternoon.  Multiple suspects were seen getting out of a possible black Ford Fusion being driven by another suspect.  This vehicle might have a plate of EFE3225.  The suspect then walked to the intended houses while another suspect drove around the neighborhood waiting.

We want to say that if you see this vehicle or any vehicle or suspects that do not seem right to you, please call us immediately.  You never know when your description, video evidence, or phone call may make the difference in an open case.

We thank you for your diligence and hope you have a great weekend.

20 minutes ago! Theft on 3000 Block of Oxford

Just 20 minutes ago, this afternoon, Sunday March 26, I noticed a young black male walking down the street and he looked oddly out of place.
I noticed black car backed in at the end of my neighbor’s driveway, which was very odd.
I saw some young black males walking around at the top of the driveway, looking at the stuff stored there and I called 911.
Suddenly, one person jumped in the car, backed up then driveway and they proceeded to put things in the car.
Then, they quickly sped off while I was on the phone with the police; I was unable to get a license plate or photo of the car.
Literally a minute later, my neighbor returned home while I was still on the phone with the police.
The owner is now assessing what items were taken.
This experience was disturbing. Please watch out for yourselves and your neighbors.

Break-in 3100 Block of Oxford

Sometime on Monday during working hours a break-in occurred . The robbers entered by bashing in a back door. They took pillow cases off the beds and used them to go around the house taking things that were left out on counters and table tops. Jewelry, a bowl of car keys and a computer. ( the owner had to re-key all their cars) It is believed that they entered and left from Stanford Dr.  A police report was filed.

If you have seen anything suspicious please report it to the police.

District 3 Criminal Investigations weekly newsletter-09 Mar 2017

Greetings;

Antonio Davis 7/30/74

District 3 Investigators obtained warrants on Antonio Davis charging him with Common Law Robbery and Misdemeanor Conspiracy. Davis and another suspect went into the Family Fare on Chapel Hill Blvd and stole several items from the store and the cooler. The store clerk attempted to stop them from stealing, Davis turned toward her and threatened her by stating “I will kill you for it” and they both left the store and fled in an unknown vehicle. Davis has be positively identified in this crime and he and his friend will be hearing from us real soon. However, right now he is still at large and should be considered very dangerous. If you see him before we see him don’t try to apprehend him, please call 911 immediately and tell us where you saw him.

 Casey Dobson 9/21/94

District 3 Investigators obtained warrants on Casey Dobson charging him with 2 counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, 2 counts of Larceny After the Break and Enter and 2 counts of Injury to Personal Property. Dobson has been positively identified in burglaries on Forest Oaks and Hillgrand Drive. And we are looking at him for several other burglaries in that area. In one of those burglaries Dobson went to the front door and rang the bell and knocked on the door and when he heard someone inside the house, he went into the backyard of the house and broke into the shed. Dobson is now off the street and is in the Durham County Jail under a $15,000 bond.

He have noticed a continued spike in car break-ins. In each case the victims valuables were in plain sight of the thief. But the trend has changed, instead of the vehicles being unlocked the suspect now breaks the window and steals the valuables.

Tip: Please don’t leave your valuables in plain sight. Secure your valuables before you leave your car.

Finally, your tips and phone calls have been a great help in solving crimes especially recent burglaries. Keep calling us and reporting suspicious activities and persons. Recently, your phone calls lead us to a vehicle that had been used in several crimes and ultimately the arrest of the suspects. So thank you and I am sure you would agree that it is better when we work together to abate crime in our community.

Until next time, stay safe and remember…don’t be an easy target…protect your stuff!!
