We are still working and investigating in response to recent events in the Hope Valley community there will be increased uniform patrol presence and activities in the area. Your vigilance, phone calls and emails are appreciated, thank you keeping those tips coming in and all information received is important as we are working to develop suspects

We are still looking for this vehicle (Dark Gray Honda) has been seen in the Hope Valley/Bristol Road areas. This vehicle is occupied by one tall black male and a white male or a tall black male and a shorter black male in all cases the suspects were wearing hoodies no further suspect descriptions.

We are also still looking for another vehicle a Honda Odyssey Minivan Silver NC Tag PAK-4044 (No picture available) The Odyssey was also recently parked near Bristol Road in Hope Valley. The van was last seen being operated by a white male, no further suspect description.

 These are vehicles of interest ONLY. If anyone observes one or both of these vehicles do not attempt to detain them, call 911 immediately and tell us exactly where you saw these vehicles and who was driving and how many occupants and ethnicity if possible and we will take it from there.

 We are still spiking in motor vehicle break-in’s and 80% of the vehicles were unlocked. We have developed a suspect and he will be hearing from us in the very near future.

Tip: Please lock your cars and do not keep firearms in the car

Hello Neighbors!

 On the evening of November 6, 2017 at approximately 7:53 PM our district-3 officers responded to the area of Surrey Lane in reference to a 1st Degree burglary/Home invasion. Upon arriving the officers spoke with the victim who stated two men carrying handguns and wearing masks , dark clothes and gloves came into the garage of a home owner who had just returned home and parked the car in the garage.

They forced her back into the house. While inside the residence, the suspects stole various items (cash, jewelry, wallet, phone),  including their vehicle and all their keys. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Feskanich at 919-560-4440, ext 29480.

Some neighbors reported seeing two suspicious men in a parked car on the street earlier that evening, but had not reported it.

Tip: Be vigilant. Pay attention to your surroundings. If you see anyone or anything suspicious, call 911 immediately so the police can check it out. Notify your neighborhood watch area captain.

Watch out for each other and be safe.

Finally, cooler weather.

There have been some sporadic reports of theft from vehicles of personal items the past weeks.

A few tips:

1. These thefts, while still important to the homeowner, are considered non-life threatening emergencies , so please call the ‘Non-emergency’ number  919-560-4600. Then notify your area captain. Every call to the police is tracked and generates metrics for possible trends that may connect to other burglaries we may not be aware of.
2. Make sure to take your personal items out of a vehicle or the bed of your truck when it is parked and you have left the vehicle  unattended (in the house).
3. If you keep any items in your vehicle out of necessity, make sure they are locked up and/or out of site when you have left your vehicle unattended (in the house).
4. Much theft if done targeting unlocked vehicles, so lock your vehicle when it is left on the street or driveway unattended (in the house).

Leland Lamont Shaw 3/15/88

District 3 Investigators obtained warrants for Leland Shaw charging him with Aggravated Assault Inflicting Serious Injury and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon for an Attempted Carjacking Robbery and Aggravated Assault that took place at the intersection of Jackson/Gerrard Street. The victim in this case was seriously injured as she was struck in the face several times with a firearm.  Shaw is still at large and should be considered armed and very, very dangerous. We hope to get him in our custody real soon.

But if you see him before we do, please do not attempt to apprehend him but call 911 immediately and tell us where you saw him

Timothy James Crowe 7/21/90

Update: District 3 Investigators have arrested Timothy James Crowe, charging him with Felony Breaking and Entering, Larceny After the Break and Enter, Injury to Personal Property. Crowe has a history of burglaries and other charges. These charges are stemming from a burglary that took place in the 3000 block of Plymouth. We are still looking at Crowe for several other burglaries in the Hope Valley community. This investigation is ongoing. Crowe is now residing at the Durham County Jail, under a $6000.00 bond.

Finally, let me take a moment and say thank you for all of your tips, phone calls. Our district wide overall crime numbers for the last 2 weeks are trending downward! Which is a direct result of your commitment to assist us in abating crime in our area. Please continue to take care of your neighbors by keeping an eye out for any suspicious people or behaviors in your community. Lock your doors and secure your valuables. Don’t be an easy target!!!

Timothy James Crowe 7/21/90

District 3 Investigators have obtained warrants on Timothy James Crowe, charging him with Felony Breaking and Entering, Larceny After the Break and Enter, Injury to Personal Property. Crowe has a history of burglaries and other charges. These charges are stemming from a burglary that took place in the 3000 block of Plymouth. After further investigation, we are looking at Crowe for several other burglaries in the Hope Valley community. This investigation is ongoing. Crowe is still at large but we are hot on his trail!! If you happen to see Crowe before we do, DO NOT try to apprehend him, call 911 immediately and tell us where you saw him and we will take it from there. Crowe should be considered very dangerous.

Alert: This week we have investigated cases where people had left their firearms in their unlocked vehicle and the firearm was stolen. The repercussion  of a stolen firearm on the street and in the wrong hands is so great that it cannot be articulated.

TIP: Please remove firearms from your vehicle or secure them in the trunk when you are going to be away from your car for a long period of time.

TIP: Take a picture of all your valuables, to include the serial numbers and send them to the cloud. If you do this, you will have no problem identifying your property in case it is ever stolen.

Greetings all District 3 neighbors,

We are still experiencing a spike in B&E to motor vehicles throughout the district. However, the majority of these vehicles are unlocked with property in plain view.

The burglary trend remains the same. The thieves are going through open garages and unlocked garage doors.

Tip: Please lock your vehicles and before you turn in for the night or if you are leaving your home secure your home by locking the doors and closing your garage door. And keep a light on downstairs, criminals hate light. Finally, use your alarm when you leave home and put it on stay when you go to bed.

Good Afternoon-

ALERT: Recently several area residents have notified us of some suspicious activity in the Hope Valley and Woodcroft areas. A dark blue or black 2004 Buick Rainer (NC plate PFD4220) occupied by as many as four males, has been seen at least twice with the occupants casing houses. The occupants  knock on doors and when confronted invent a story and then leave the area. Please stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to 911.

As previously mentioned, we are experiencing an increased trend of vehicle break-ins district wide.  There are 2 methods of entry, either through an unlocked door or by breaking the window. 

Tip: We urge all residents not to leave valuables in vehicles.
