Greetings;

There have been two recent burglaries in the Hickstown Lasalle St. area. Similar suspect description, Black male, mid-twenties, he usually works alone and he enters the residences through open or unlocked window or door. The suspect has been described as wearing gloves and mask. In one case it was a surgical mask. In all these cases he apologizes to victims stating he will not harm them and often gives the victims crime prevention tips before leaving, i.e. “You should lock your windows” or words to that effect. He does not ransack the residence but he takes cash and cell phones telling victims they may retrieve their phones outside after he leaves. Suspect uses a knife in the commission of the crimes then flees on foot. Listen, this is not a good guy and he is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Please continue to report any suspicious activity and persons. Be cognizant of your surroundings especially when you are walking out of your garage to take your trash or walking your dog. Do not walk up and question suspicious persons call us and will identify them.

We are still working in the Hope Valley communities.

This week we experienced another spike in vehicle break-ins district wide. Once again the majority of these vehicle were left unlocked and items of value were left in plain view.

Though not directly in our neighborhood it is close enough (the other side of 15-501) to keep neighbors informed of the incident.  I suspect this is why there was a helicopter hovering over head nearby though I could not ID the helicopter as police or media.

No word on suspect but there is an ongoing investigation.

We are still working and investigating in response to recent events in the Hope Valley community there will be increased uniform patrol presence and activities in the area. Your vigilance, phone calls and emails are appreciated, thank you keeping those tips coming in and all information received is important as we are working to develop suspects

We are still looking for this vehicle (Dark Gray Honda) has been seen in the Hope Valley/Bristol Road areas. This vehicle is occupied by one tall black male and a white male or a tall black male and a shorter black male in all cases the suspects were wearing hoodies no further suspect descriptions.

We are also still looking for another vehicle a Honda Odyssey Minivan Silver NC Tag PAK-4044 (No picture available) The Odyssey was also recently parked near Bristol Road in Hope Valley. The van was last seen being operated by a white male, no further suspect description.

 These are vehicles of interest ONLY. If anyone observes one or both of these vehicles do not attempt to detain them, call 911 immediately and tell us exactly where you saw these vehicles and who was driving and how many occupants and ethnicity if possible and we will take it from there.

 We are still spiking in motor vehicle break-in’s and 80% of the vehicles were unlocked. We have developed a suspect and he will be hearing from us in the very near future.

Tip: Please lock your cars and do not keep firearms in the car

Hello Neighbors!

 On the evening of November 6, 2017 at approximately 7:53 PM our district-3 officers responded to the area of Surrey Lane in reference to a 1st Degree burglary/Home invasion. Upon arriving the officers spoke with the victim who stated two men carrying handguns and wearing masks , dark clothes and gloves came into the garage of a home owner who had just returned home and parked the car in the garage.

They forced her back into the house. While inside the residence, the suspects stole various items (cash, jewelry, wallet, phone),  including their vehicle and all their keys. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Feskanich at 919-560-4440, ext 29480.

Some neighbors reported seeing two suspicious men in a parked car on the street earlier that evening, but had not reported it.

Tip: Be vigilant. Pay attention to your surroundings. If you see anyone or anything suspicious, call 911 immediately so the police can check it out. Notify your neighborhood watch area captain.

Watch out for each other and be safe.

I saw someone who looked like the person on the video (most notably, the diagonal backpack strap across chest) and immediately called 91i. The person was casually walking down my neighbor’s driveway across the street then turned onto Oxford Drive towards University Drive. I will provide update if/when available.

The neighbors with the prowler had the police out today.  The officer watched the videos from both incidents, wrote a description of the individual (it’s not certain, but everyone believes it’s been the same person each time), and plans to see if the details match up with any other reports.  More on this if and when it comes available.

The neighbor on the 3000 block of Stanford who reported the prowler last week now has captured video footage of the same prowler.  This footage (see below) was recorded at 10:30 p.m. last night (Thursday, 10/26).  The neighbor plans once again to contact the police; an update will follow.

Please keep your eyes open and report any suspicious behavior to police.

Neighbors on the 3000 block of Stanford report that their camera caught a man walking down their driveway and under their deck at approximately 12:14 a.m. this (Saturday) morning.  About 30 minutes later, their camera documented a police car driving by with spotlights on, so perhaps someone else noticed this individual and called the police.  Below is a .png that shows the individual in question.

The neighbors called the police this morning to report the incident.  Although an officer came out to discuss, no report was filed because nothing was damaged or taken.

Please keep your car doors locked, and be sure to report any suspicious behavior!

Finally, cooler weather.

There have been some sporadic reports of theft from vehicles of personal items the past weeks.

A few tips:

1. These thefts, while still important to the homeowner, are considered non-life threatening emergencies , so please call the ‘Non-emergency’ number  919-560-4600. Then notify your area captain. Every call to the police is tracked and generates metrics for possible trends that may connect to other burglaries we may not be aware of.
2. Make sure to take your personal items out of a vehicle or the bed of your truck when it is parked and you have left the vehicle  unattended (in the house).
3. If you keep any items in your vehicle out of necessity, make sure they are locked up and/or out of site when you have left your vehicle unattended (in the house).
4. Much theft if done targeting unlocked vehicles, so lock your vehicle when it is left on the street or driveway unattended (in the house).

How to Report Suspicious Activity

On Monday a neighbor was walking  her dog about 9:45 and reported that she saw an African American gentleman on a skateboard wearing a toboggan hat with a tassel on the top, some camouflage shorts, in his late teens, early twenties .  (I am assuming that it was the same gentleman that was mentioned in the earlier post. ) He had come up from Bexley (cul-de-sac) and skated down the 3000 block of Oxford. She kept walking  and saw the youth go up the driveway of the Oxford House. When she walked by she noticed he was stopped in front of a chest type toolbox by the garage.  They waved at one another and she thought maybe he lived there. However as she got almost to Yorkdale he walked by her skateboard in hand, barely holding up his pants. She asked if he lived there and he said, “my home girl lives there”.  She immediately called 911 and reported him as he fled through the Epworth parking lot. His presence was noticed and police were alerted.

Later she approached a gentleman who lived at the Oxford House and  asked if a gentleman meeting that description lived there or if a woman was living there. He informed her that there were no such occupants living there.  She then told him what she saw .
